WHAT IS CHANGE MANAGEMENT?


Change management is a systematic approach used by organisations to deal with change, both from the perspective of an organisation and on the individual level.


It involves methods and processes for managing the people side of change to achieve a desired outcome. Change management is often associated with large organisational changes, such as mergers, acquisitions, business process changes, and technology implementations.


There are three primary aspects of change management:

Organisational Change Management

This involves understanding and managing the impact of changes on an organisation.


It includes aligning the company's structure, culture, and processes with the change objectives.

The goal is to help employees understand, commit to, and embrace changes in their current business environment.

Individual Change Management

This aspect focuses on helping employees make a successful transition from their current way of working to the new way.


It involves understanding the personal journey that individuals go through as they experience change, and providing support and guidance to help them navigate the change successfully.

Change Process Management

This involves the tools, techniques, and processes used to manage the change.

This can include project management approaches, communication plans, stakeholder engagement strategies, training, and support.

Effective change management is critical because it helps to ensure a smooth transition, minimises resistance, and enhances the likelihood of achieving the desired outcome of the change initiative.


It is a complex discipline that requires an understanding of human behavior, communication, leadership, and project management.
